    When to plant Fritillaria bulbs?

Plant Fritillaria in early to mid-fall. Plant Fritillaria bulbs shortly after receiving them, as they prefer to be in the ground and not away from the soil for too long.

    How to plant Fritillaria bulbs?

Fritillaria have odd-shaped bulbs, and it is often difficult to tell which end faces up. They also often have a hollow part of the bulb. To protect water from gathering in the hollow part of the bulb lay the bulb on its side when planting. Plant large fritillaria also known as Crown Imperial 6-8” deep. Small Fritillaria such as Mixed Checked Fritillaria should be planted 2-3” deep. After placing the bulbs in the ground at the proper planting depth cover the bulbs with soil. A light layer of mulch can be added as well.

    Where to plant Fritillaria bulbs?

Plant Fritillaria in a soil that has good drainage. The planting area must have soil that is loose, and water does not gather, amend with organic matter prior to planting. Fritillaria grow best in filtered sun.

What are good companion plants Fritillaria?

Fritillaria bloom in mid-summer, they look lovely when planted with Daffodils, Tulips, Grape Hyacinths and Fragrant Hyacinths.

I received these in good shape, and they have come up well. Delicate stems, and both the checkered and yellowish green flowers are blooming now in April. Definitely want to get more!
